Deregulation Measures
During his first year in office, Milei managed to either eliminate or modify regulations in a more market-oriented way at a rate of nearly two per day. All together today, he has gotten rid of 331 regulations and modified 341.
Fiscal Austerity
During his time in office, Melei has fired over 30,000 government employees, eliminated over 100 secretariats, reduced the number of government ministries to 8, and abolished over 200 lower-level bureaucratic departments.
Privatization Efforts
Milei has also led a push to privatize state-owned industries. Currently, one firm has already been successfully sold, namely the metallurgical firm IMPSA, and is already pushing the sale of other state-owned industries, such as the national rail freight industry, a coal mining firm, and two nuclear power plants.
Labor Market Reforms
Recently, there has also been a major reorganization of the Argentine labor market to adopt a more pro-market stance. According to The National Interest, these changes include "a change in the amount of money it takes to lay off workers, a stipulation that workers must work at least six months before they gain full labor rights, and limits on strikes in essential services such as medical care and transportation.
